BBM will reportedly not support iPad or Android tablets at launch

Earlier this week, BlackBerry announced the arrival of BlackBerry Messenger for Android and iOS. A new report suggests that the messaging service will have some limitations, however. According to TrustedReviewsBBMwill not be available for the iPad or for Androidtablets at launch. Vivek Bhardwaj, head of the BlackBerry software portfolio, reportedly told the website that BBM will be limited to iPhonesrunning iOS 6 or higher and Android smartphones.

“Smartphone is our real focus and again it comes back to what BBM is,” he explained. “If you look BBM and the engagement and the activity, it’s because it is mobile, because people are on the go.”

While the executive didn’t rule out tablet support in the future, he noted that it may take some time.
“When you start looking at tablets, computers and other screens, the usage model changes and behaviour changes, he said. “For us right now the absolute focus is getting BBM onto smartphones.”
Bhardwaj even hinted at BBM coming to different devices such as smart TVs and computers. “I think when you look at things like Smart TVs and desktops, those are definitely areas for exploration,” he said.
BBM will be available for Android and the iPhone this summer.

  1. Nice article :)

But in my opinion, I do not agree with the policy of blackberry. Right now, the tablet is often treated as a phone. People often communicate with social media and bertelepon using tablet. I guess it does not matter if the fuel is also added in the tablet. Precisely because in today's too much to use the tablet, if the fuel is applied there, definitely could also increase income as well right?

  2. the truth is, i didn't agree if BBM compatible with android and iOs, besides it deviating from it's name (BBM or BlackBerry Messanger), if user of android or iOs used BBM, I can't think how often will a disturbance at RIM, because at the time when BBM not compatible with those OS, RIM already often exposed to disturbances. But is a good article to inform user of BBM users that BBM will just compatible with iPhone and android phone(Smartphone) not iPad or tablets.
